FIE's continued concerns about the planting of non-native species on our uplands and coastal uplands are undermined by COFORD (the Department of Agriculture's research section) arguments. These arguments continue to deny CORINE data showing twice the planting rate on peat soils that Ireland admits to - and by continuing to insist that planting on peat soils leads to net carbon sequestration for which Ireland can claim Kyoto credits.
